Today we have been talking about Analysis. For someone who seems to over analyze everything there really is quite a lot that is formally involved in this instructional strategy step. It was very helpful to create a mind map that shows the key elements in analysis. These include needs, task, and learner analysis. I am actually excited to think about these areas and how I can gather the data I need in order to analyze how to better teach Document Based Essays. I am thinking that that is what I want my thematic unit to focus on. It determines about 30% of my students' overall scores and I have been looking at reworking how I teach them in general - so it will be a win win for me.
Today we talked a lot about Instructional Design. There were nine instructional design models that we learned about in addition to reviewing ADDIE. There are several commonalities among the various ID models that I observed during our class presentations which include: accessing prior knowledge, chunking information, real world application, sequencing, connections between parts and the whole, and cyclical processes. Honestly, the ID model that I was the most familiar with and have used the most in my curriculum planning and mapping is the Backward Design Model.
Despite my knowledge of Backward By Design, I am going to need to learn about the ADDIE model. This model includes: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. I am kind of nervous about learning a new instructional design, but am excited at the same time. I definitely need to learn about the differences between design and development! I enjoyed taking the eClicker quiz and the discussion that followed. I think it was very helpful and would like to thing of ways to use it in my class. There is an overlap between analysis, design, and development that is going to be something that I really focus on in future readings. I am still very excited about this endorsement program and feel like I am learning and growing professionally. I have to be honest I am in love with Weebly! I started created my e-Portfolio for this class and then decided I wanted to redo all of my class wiki pages. At first , I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to catch on to Weebly quickly and that it would be cumbersome - boy was I wrong! It is user-friendly and I love the published product! I have to give a shout out to my colleague and friend Sarah who has answered a lot of my questions and helped me figure a lot of the ins and outs of Weebly already. Bring on the next technology piece! I am lovin
